New England foliage

This is my favorite time of the year.  I'm not a huge fan of the summer.  It gets too hot, too muggy, too sticky, etc...  The spring is okay but there's a lot of rain and the days seem more unpredictable.  Winter would be my second favorite season even though it gets quite cold and I live in a snow belt area.  That leaves (no pun intended) fall.  I love the warm days and cool evenings.  It's usually not too hot or too cold.  The best part of the fall season is the New England foliage. 

I'm fortunate enough to experience this each year since I live in Massachusetts.  Also, I try to spend as much time as possible in New Hampshire, especially the White Mountains.  I used to have a lot of vacation time at my old job so I'd take a week each fall and do nothing but hike and take pictures in the Whites.  My current job doesn't afford me the same amount of vacation time but I did just get to spend a long weekend up there.

If you hit the foliage at peak in New England you'll be blown away.  The colors are bright, rich, and beautiful.  As I was telling someone this morning, they sometimes remind me of a bowl of Trix cereal.  In one location you can sometimes see reds, yellows, oranges, and greens.  I'm partial to scenes were the colored leaves are mixed in with evergreens for some nice contrast.  The photo opportunites are endless in the White Mountains if you like amazing landscapes.

Another favorite photo op during the fall is waterfalls.  Anyone who knows me will tell you that, even though my site is called "Mountain View Photography", my favorite subject to shoot is waterfalls.  I am particularly fond of shots with foliage around or behind the waterfall and leaves on the rocks in the foreground.
