Tucker Brook cascade

I was up and out the door by 5am to meet up with the "New Hampshire Waterfall Gang" at 6am at Tucker Brook Town Forest in New Hampshire. I did this in spite of the fact that it was raining out. I figured I'd stop at Dunkin Donuts for breakfast but even the donut maker wasn't up this early...at all 3 of the locations that I passed. So my morning wasn't starting out too good. I knew I'd be getting wet and I'm hungry. I got to the parking lot at 6am and was immediately swarmed by mosquitoes. They apparently don't mind the rain. I doused myself with DEET to keep from being eaten alive. We then headed into the woods to find Tucker Brook Falls. I was able to get some nice pictures of the waterfall before it started to rain a little harder. I put the camera away and headed downstream to see what else was there. That's when I saw this wonderful cascade. I was drawn to the zig-zag motion of the water and had to get a picture. I waited until the rain let up a little bit and then took a few photos. Then the rain started coming down a little harder and I was done for the day. This turned out to the my favorite photo of the morning. Sometimes it's worth getting up early, going without food, and being swarmed by bugs when you see something like this.
